Federico Dimarco reflects on the Dortmund win and his return to top form
Federico Dimarco spoke to Sky Sport via Fcinter1908 after the Champions League clash between Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan, a match valid for the eighth round of the 2025/26 league phase.
The Italian wing-back capped off the night with a goal in Inter Milan’s 2–0 victory and shared his thoughts at full time.
Leadership, performance and belief at Signal Iduna Park
“Wearing the captain’s armband from the start for the first time is a special emotion,” Dimarco said. “As for the match, I think we played a great game. We created a lot in the first half, but we didn’t manage to finish our chances. Maybe we were missing the final pass or the shot on target.”

He then reflected on how the goals changed the atmosphere and mindset within the team.
“Then we scored those two goals that made us believe again. The staff on the bench kept telling us to stay in it. In the end, we’ll go to the playoffs and we’ll give everything there.”
Asked about what he has rediscovered to return to such a devastating level, Dimarco was clear.
“I’ve found the serenity that I was missing. We all know, for every player, confidence is the most important thing when you play.
The more confidence you have, the better it is. And then there are the performances themselves. The better you play, the happier you are, and the more you keep pushing in that direction.”
A night of leadership, balance and conviction for Dimarco, who once again set the tone for Inter Milan on the European stage.
