Dimarco does it all: creativity and goals for Inter Milan

Not just Europe’s top creator, Federico Dimarco keeps scoring decisive goals
It was Federico Dimarco who broke the deadlock in the clash between Inter Milan and Napoli. Capitalising on a mistake by McTominay, the Nerazzurri wing-back struck from the left, sending the ball toward the far post and into the net for the crucial 1–0 goal at San Siro.
It was a goal heavy with meaning, not only for the standings but also given recent history between the two sides.
A Season of rediscovered confidence
This season, the Inter Milan player has reclaimed the spotlight that had slightly dimmed toward the end of last campaign. Dimarco looks sharper, more confident, and more central to Chivu’s system.
He is playing more, being substituted less often, a point the player himself has openly acknowledged. The numbers reflect that renewed trust:
25 appearances, 4 goals, and 5 assists across all competitions.

After scoring against Parma, it was already noted that Dimarco sits first in Europe for chances created. But creativity is only part of the story.
Record-breaking defender
Following his goal against Napoli, Opta highlighted another remarkable statistic. Since his return to Inter Milan in the 2021–22 season, Dimarco is the highest-scoring defender in Serie A, with 19 goals.
He has now overtaken Theo Hernández and Denzel Dumfries, both stuck on 18 goals, with one having left Italian football and the other currently sidelined through injury.
Dimarco’s evolution is complete: no longer just a relentless runner or a delivery specialist, he is now a decisive figure in both boxes. For Inter Milan, he is not only creating chances more than anyone else in Europe — he is finishing them too.
