Bastoni was substituted due to cramping, avoiding unnecessary risks, while his recovery and conditioning work have continued throughout the week.

Barcelona pushes, but Bastoni’s bond with Inter Milan remains strong

Barcelona’s interest would make almost any player hesitate, but Bastoni reportedly remains unconvinced about leaving Inter Milan.

The defender has reflected on certain difficult moments, especially after criticism following his mistake in Inter Milan vs Juventus, yet his connection to the Nerazzurri world runs exceptionally deep.

Inside Inter Milan’s headquarters on Viale della Liberazione, there has never been uncertainty. Club executives have not been shaken by the intense media pressure coming from Catalonia throughout the transfer saga.

Sporting director Piero Ausilio has repeatedly made the club’s position crystal clear: Inter Milan has no intention of selling Bastoni, let alone at a discounted price.

That stance appears to have surprised Barcelona. In Spain, there was confidence that convincing Inter Milan to negotiate would be relatively straightforward. Instead, the club built a wall.

Now, the Catalan side seems to be exploring alternative options, partly due to tactical evaluations from coach Hansi Flick, who may believe a different defensive profile better suits his plans.

There is even speculation that some recent reports from Catalan media could be part of a strategy aimed at pressuring Inter Milan into lowering its demands.

For now, though, Bastoni’s focus remains entirely on the pitch.
