Chivu reshuffles squad with Inter Milan derby and Coppa Italia in mind

Inter Milan will look different tonight compared to the side seen in the Champions League. And also different from the team that faced Lecce last week, as confirmed by Il Giornale via Fcinter1908 in today’s edition.

Lineup adjustments will depend on several factors, with the hope that both the attitude and, above all, the result will change.

“As opposed to what happened a week ago in Lecce, this time Chivu will make changes,” the newspaper reports. 

“Not only because Alessandro Bastoni is suspended, with Carlos Augusto ready to replace him, but also because before the derby there will be Tuesday’s Coppa Italia semifinal first leg away at Como. That fixture has become more significant following the European exit.”

Rotation plan takes shape as Chivu balances League and Coppa

Winning the Coppa Italia alongside the Scudetto would represent tangible success, not just appearance. Chivu is well aware that facing Cesc Fàbregas may not be as straightforward as it was three months ago in league play.

With Denzel Dumfries available again, Hakan Çalhanoğlu will also be on the bench, both searching for minutes to build match fitness. 

On the right flank, Matteo Darmian could be given the nod, while on the left Federico Dimarco is expected to start.

For Inter Milan, this is more than rotation. It is calibration, fine-tuning the engine before decisive turns in both league and cup.
