Inter Milan clears out key players to chase Giovanni Leoni, but must sell more stars before launching the decisive move for Parma’s golden talent

Inter Milan has drawn a clear line for this transfer window: no more than €100M (£84.4M) in total spending.

That’s the cap imposed by Oaktree, forcing the Nerazzurri leadership to rely heavily on self-financing to secure additional signings.

Among the most urgent priorities is securing Giovanni Leoni. One deal has already been completed—Aleksandar Stankovic to Club Bruges, which brought €9.5M (£8M) into the Inter Milan coffers.

Another is nearing completion: Tajon Buchanan is set to return permanently to Villarreal, earning the club another €8.5M (£7.2M).

The current total raised stands at roughly €18M (£15.2M).

Leoni on standby: Inter Milan's golden opportunity hangs by a thread

But the sales won't stop there. Players like Kristjan Asllani, Sebastiano Esposito, Mehdi Taremi, and even Palacios are expected to depart.

The goal is to raise an additional €25–30M (£21.1–25.3M).

If successful, that would trigger the club’s all-in push for Leoni, who has already agreed to wait for Inter Milan. He’s been convinced by both the technical project and the contractual terms.

However, Parma is playing hardball. They want €35M (£29.6M) to release their jewel this summer instead of waiting until the end of next season—when his value could soar even higher.
