De Vrij: "The defeat hurts, but we must look ahead. We still have a lot to do"

The words of the Nerazzurri defender following the Coppa Italia semifinal. 

A bitter night for Inter Milan, defeated by AC Milan in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semifinal and eliminated from the competition. 

After the match, defender Stefan De Vrij spoke in the post-match interviews, starting with the header that was saved by Maignan:

“I made good contact with the ball, but Maignan made a great save. It was a chance that could have reopened the game, but it didn’t go our way. We looked for the goal, but we weren’t able to score, and unfortunately, that’s how it went.

Throughout the season, we've played so many games, but that doesn't matter—tonight we had a good first half, we created a lot, but it didn’t go well and they scored with their first real chance.

It’s a tough result to take, but we have to stay positive. 

Even though this defeat hurts, we need to put it behind us and work hard for our remaining goals.

We’ve played a huge number of matches, but that’s what we want. Until tonight, even at the end of April, we were still in contention on all fronts.

Today’s loss hurts a lot because it was a chance to win a trophy, but we need to look forward because we have other targets—we still have a lot to accomplish this season.”
