A high-tension European night ends in disappointment for Inter Milan

It was a night of extreme tension at San Siro, where Inter Milan hosted an unbeaten Arsenal sitting top of the Premier League table and determined to extend their flawless European run.

The atmosphere was electric at the Meazza, but despite fighting until the final whistle, Inter Milan were forced to surrender to the Gunners, who left Milan with a 3-1 victory.

A result that significantly compromises Inter Milan’s chances of securing direct qualification to the Champions League Round of 16, forcing the Nerazzurri to rethink their path in Europe.

Quality spells undone by lapses in concentration

Inter Milan produced a competitive performance, especially in spells, but key moments tilted the match in Arsenal’s favour.

Defensive lapses proved costly, while a lack of sharpness in front of goal prevented the Nerazzurri from fully capitalising on their chances.

Speaking to InterTV after the final whistle, Piotr Zielinski analysed the defeat with clarity:

“We played a good match, but it wasn’t enough. With a bit more concentration and determination, this wouldn’t have happened. We conceded three goals too easily, and in front of goal we lacked lucidity. We need to win more second balls, and on long balls they often got there first. At times we were too passive and we must improve. Friday’s match will be fundamental: we can’t underestimate the opponent, they have quality and we must give everything. Then we’ll think about Dortmund.”

Sucic: “A nice goal, but it means little without a win”

Despite the defeat, there were individual positives, including Sucic, who found the net against one of Europe’s most solid defences. Still, the midfielder kept his feet firmly on the ground:

“We had some good chances in the first half, but in the end we lost the match. Did we put the best defence in the world under pressure? Yes, we can say that, but they scored more goals and that’s what matters. My goal? It was a nice goal, but if you don’t win, it counts for very little.”
