Cristian Chivu reflects on Inter Milan’s five to zero victory over Torino, praising discipline, mentality, and team spirit

A brilliant debut for Inter Milan, who defeated Torino five to zero. After the Nerazzurri’s goal fest, head coach Cristian Chivu spoke to Sky Sport via Fcinter1908:

"We worked to show up for the season opener in the best condition possible, despite only four weeks of preparation.

The players responded brilliantly, leaving the past behind. It was a performance full of maturity, quality, and aggression. I’m very happy for them."

Chivu: “Mental strength as vital as physical condition”

Cristian Chivu reflects on Inter Milan’s five to zero victory over Torino, praising discipline, mentality, and team spirit.

Training:
"From day one, they fully committed to the work. They accepted the training loads, even double sessions, without anyone complaining. They worked with their heads down. Today we showed up in decent condition, though it was a question mark even for us."

Transfer market:
"I feel a bit drained and empty after this match, I’d rather talk about the game. There are still a few days left in this transfer window."

Emotions:
"The emotions are right, they clear my head. I’ve got too many thoughts, so emotions actually help me.

Returning here to the club where I wrote some important pages of my career is pleasing, but my focus is entirely on what we must do for the team."

Lookman:
"How would I have played with Lookman? Lookman is not part of our squad. I can’t talk about players who aren’t part of this group."

Defense:
"It depends on the team’s attitude, on pressing. We are trying to work on our reading of situations. I’m not afraid of anything—I have intelligent players. We are still improving and still working."

Preparation:
"It’s not only a physical matter, but also a mental one. I rely heavily on this aspect, it’s crucial. The mind always gives you something extra, and we are working on it."
