From Mlacic close to completion to a discreet inquiry for Perisic, Inter Milan move on multiple fronts
Inter Milan’s transfer strategy continues to develop along two parallel tracks: planning for the future while keeping an eye on immediate opportunities.
Fabrizio Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, confirmed recent reports regarding Inter Milan’s movements, including the advanced negotiations for Mlacic and a behind-the-scenes attempt to explore a sensational return of Ivan Perisic.
Agreement reached with Hajduk, final step awaits the player
According to Romano, competition for Mlacic was intense, but Inter Milan have successfully moved ahead of the pack:
“There was strong competition for Mlacic, but Inter Milan and Hajduk Split have a total agreement. Now everything depends on the player, but the finish line is in sight.”
Inter Milan expect a final green light soon, with the aim of closing the deal by the weekend. If all goes according to plan, Mlacic could arrive in Milan next week.
The operation is valued at around €5 million. The plan is for the player to remain at Hajduk Split until the end of the season, before officially joining Inter Milan in the summer, a clear investment aimed at the club’s medium-term future.
The Perisic idea: calls made, doors closed
While Mlacic represents the future, Inter Milan have also evaluated a potential short-term reinforcement with a familiar face.

“The name of Perisic is emerging, and it’s true,” Romano explained. “Inter Milan have made calls to understand his situation.”
Despite his age, Perisic continues to deliver high-level performances:
“The passport says the years are advancing, but the pitch says Perisic can still make the difference at an exceptional level. He knows the environment and wouldn’t need time to adapt.”
However, reality has quickly set in. PSV have no intention of letting Perisic leave mid-season, and there are no release clauses in place.
“At the moment, Inter Milan haven’t found any positive feedback from the club,” Romano added. “The player would be intrigued by a return, but today it’s not a hot topic.
It’s more of a background story, a last-minute idea if circumstances change.”
Market still open behind the scenes
The message is clear: Inter Milan’s market is not officially closed. The club are working quietly, evaluating opportunities without public announcements, ready to move should the right conditions arise.
Between future investments like Mlacic and nostalgic but pragmatic ideas such as Perisic, Inter Milan continue to navigate a transfer window built on patience and strategy rather than noise.
