With Lautaro Martinez sidelined for the next few weeks, Inter Milan need more from Marcus Thuram.
Saturday night at the Via del Mare left the feeling that something was missing from the French forward.
Inter Milan still secured an important win against Lecce, but expectations around Thuram remain higher, especially now that the attacking burden inevitably increases.
As highlighted by Corriere dello Sport via Fcinter1908, Inter Milan’s attack failed to score in the latest outing.
Pio Esposito battled hard and contributed, particularly in the first half with useful hold-up play. Thuram, however, struggled to make an impact, and it was not an isolated episode.
Time for the real Thuram in Europe

With Lautaro out, Inter Milan need Thuram to rediscover his decisive edge. His overall goal tally so far aligns more or less with his previous two seasons, but only once has one of his goals truly shaped the outcome of a match. That is the missing ingredient.
Starting with the upcoming clash against Bodo/Glimt, the Nerazzurri require the real “Tikus”.
In European competition, he has not scored since the opening match against Ajax, when he netted a brace, both headers from corner kicks.
Set pieces, timing, presence in the box. The script has already been written once. Now Inter Milan need their number nine to read it again, loudly and decisively.
