Marcus Thuram will miss upcoming matches and skip international duty, with hopes of returning for Inter Milan’s crucial clash with Napoli
Inter Milan will have to cope without Marcus Thuram for at least a few more games. The French forward, affectionately nicknamed Tikus, won’t join the national team and is now targeting a comeback in one of Serie A’s biggest fixtures.
According to Corriere della Sera via Fcinter1908, Thuram suffered a left hamstring injury on September 30 during the Champions League match against Slavia Prague. The injury occurred in the second half, during the build-up to Lautaro Martínez’s third goal, when Thuram stopped suddenly after attempting a backheel pass to Bastoni, who then provided the assist.
A costly knock for Chivu’s Inter Milan
Since that match, Cristian Chivu has been forced to adjust his attacking setup. Thuram already missed the Serie A game against Cremonese, and his absence will continue to be felt in the coming fixtures.

He was not included in Didier Deschamps’ France squad for the upcoming international window, as the forward continues his recovery process at Appiano Gentile.
The medical staff will monitor his progress closely over the next two weeks, but the current plan points to a potential return on October 25, in the Serie A showdown with Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
No rush back — eyes on full recovery
Thuram’s importance to Inter Milan’s attacking system is unquestionable. His chemistry with Lautaro Martínez and his ability to stretch defenses have been central to the Nerazzurri’s vertical and high-intensity style under Chivu.
For this reason, the club is not taking any risks. The focus remains on ensuring Thuram’s full recovery to avoid setbacks ahead of a demanding schedule that includes the Champions League fixture against Union Saint-Gilloise (October 21) and the high-profile league match versus Roma (October 18).
If all goes well, the Frenchman’s return against Napoli could give Inter Milan an extra boost in one of the most crucial weeks of their season.
