Benjamin Pavard leaves Inter Milan for Marseille after weeks of speculation. Lautaro Martínez’s summer message on commitment now gains new meaning

Inter Milan have turned the page with a decisive move: Benjamin Pavard is no longer a Nerazzurri player.

The French defender, who had arrived with high expectations, has been sold to Marseille after weeks of speculation and internal reflections within the club.

His departure can be read through the words of Fabrizio Biasin, who had already shed light on the world champion’s state of mind.

“When Lautaro said what he said after the Club World Cup, in reality one of the players addressed, probably the main one, was Pavard.

And so, even though Pavard always behaved well within the group, it seemed clear to everyone that he was somewhat disconnected from the new season. That he no longer had all the motivation needed to face a campaign that, as we already understood, requires precision, focus, and total commitment.”

Lautaro’s warning: only motivated players can stay at Inter Milan

During the summer, Lautaro had already sent a very clear and direct message to the team following Inter Milan’s elimination from the Club World Cup, underlining the importance of commitment: “I want to fight for the major titles. Anyone who wants to stay at Inter Milan, fine, let's fight.

But anyone who doesn't want to stay can leave. We need players who want to be here. We're wearing an important shirt. We need a top-level mentality, or please leave.”

This strong stance by the Captain indirectly anticipated Pavard’s farewell, confirming the idea that only players fully motivated to embrace the project can remain at Inter Milan.
