The Nerazzurri consider the Como coach as a leading candidate amid managerial transition

Inter Milan has initiated direct contact with Cesc Fàbregas as they search for a successor to Simone Inzaghi, who departed following a 5-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, there was a first direct contact today between the Nerazzurri club and the Spanish coach.

Following the separation from Simone Inzaghi, Inter Milan is looking ahead and exploring new options for the bench.

Among the profiles being evaluated by the club’s management, the name of Cesc Fàbregas stands out.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, the club has initiated preliminary talks with the former Spanish midfielder, currently the head coach of Como, to assess whether there is potential for a move to Milan.

“The Nerazzurri club has begun speaking with Cesc Fàbregas as a possible replacement, aiming to understand if the conditions are right to bring him to Milan. It’s worth noting that the Spanish coach had given his word to Como, turning down offers from Roma and Bayer Leverkusen, and the club made every effort to support him.

Fàbregas is very tempted by the opportunity but has not yet given his approval. Evaluations are ongoing, and the parties are expected to speak again soon.”

Fàbregas' rise at Como and appeal to Inter Milan

Fàbregas began his managerial career at Como, initially serving as an assistant before being appointed head coach in July 2024.

Under his leadership, Como achieved promotion to Serie A and secured their top-flight status with a record 49 points, finishing 10th.

Inter Milan's interest in Fàbregas aligns with their strategy to rejuvenate the squad and focus on developing younger talent.

The club is also considering other candidates, including Roberto De Zerbi, who has requested assurances regarding squad renewal.

While Fàbregas has expressed commitment to Como, the opportunity to manage a club of Inter Milan's stature presents a significant career advancement. Como is reportedly eager to retain their coach, who holds a contract until 2028.

As Inter Milan prepares for the upcoming Club World Cup, the urgency to finalize a managerial appointment intensifies.

Fàbregas' recent achievements and coaching philosophy make him a compelling choice to lead the Nerazzurri into a new era.
