Farris: “Proud of the Team, now let’s chase our Champions League dream”

Final whistle at the Sinigaglia Stadium. Massimiliano Farris, Simone Inzaghi’s assistant, spoke to the media following Inter Milan’s 2–0 win over Como, a result that wasn’t enough to leapfrog Napoli at the top on the final day of the 2024/25 Serie A season.

"The team did its job today, but we knew the outcome also depended on another match. There’s some regret, but we are sportsmen, so congratulations to Napoli. Winning two league titles in three years is no small feat—they have a great squad and coaching staff, so full credit to them.

We now have the immediate opportunity to chase a dream we came close to two years ago. Our journey in Europe has been extraordinary, and we fully deserved this final. The goal is to lift the trophy."

What did you say to the fans?

"As a staff—and personally—I know what Milan and Inter Milan mean. I can only feel immense pride for the way the fans have stood by us. 

They’ve celebrated with us, they’ve never abandoned us, and we’d love to reward them by fulfilling this dream. We know we’re facing a tough opponent in Munich, but the dream is to lift the trophy."

How is Lautaro?

"We put out a very competitive lineup to challenge a strong Como side—kudos to them. We didn’t want to risk any players coming off injuries. Thuram was ready to come in; Lautaro was never intended to warm up unless something extreme happened. Our aim was to get the result and protect players for the final."

And Pavard and Bisseck?

"Benjamin had a bad sprain but is improving, and we hope to have him in top condition for Munich. Bisseck felt something in his knee after a challenge, but it doesn’t seem serious—he wasn’t worried."

How do you avoid carrying the disappointment of missing the Scudetto into the Champions League final?

"We’ve been here before. I know, and I’m sure everyone remembers what that week feels like. We’ve made an incredible journey—facing City, Arsenal, Leverkusen, Bayern, Barcelona. We’ve gone up against Europe’s elite. 

There’s no room for disappointment now. We’ll live this dream—we have great leaders, and they will lead us in the pursuit of lifting the cup."
