Alongside incoming transfers, Inter Milan are also working on outgoings: the club urgently needs to offload players considered surplus to requirements — including Mehdi Taremi, Kristjan Asllani, Sebastiano Esposito, and Ezequiel Palacios.
Taremi, Asllani, Esposito and Palacios: Inter Milan’s surprise sell-off
According to Corriere dello Sport via Fcinter1908:
“The fate of Mehdi Taremi was and remains unrelated to the Lookman situation, as Inter Milan informed the Iranian striker days ago that he no longer features in their technical plans.
The club wants a fifth forward with different attributes than the former Porto player, whose disappointing season didn’t help his case.
Several clubs have made contact with Taremi’s agent, making him the hottest name among Inter Milan’s outgoing players. The list also includes Asllani, Esposito, and Palacios.
The key difference is that Taremi is being pursued by English clubs — along with Besiktas — who are reportedly willing to pay the fee of between 8 and 10 million euros (£6.7m–£8.4m) requested by Inter Milan.
Interested sides include Fulham, Leeds, Nottingham, and West Ham. Their financial strength could help Inter Milan boost their war chest for this summer’s window.
So far, with sales of Aleksandar Stankovic and Buchanan, and other deals involving Agoume, Filip Stankovic and Vagiannidis, Inter Milan have already collected around 26 million euros (£21.8m). Selling Taremi would raise that total close to 35 million (£29.4m).
Taremi’s condition is to remain in Europe, seeking a final high-level contract at the age of 33 — as evidenced by Botafogo’s interest, which faded quickly.
Inter Milan aim to profit from his free transfer arrival by also removing his 3 million euro a year (£2.5m) salary, which runs until June 2027 — avoiding a potential fire sale next summer.
Important updates could arrive next week, as the striker has yet to begin preseason preparations after missing the Club World Cup due to the war in Iran. He also took extended vacation and failed to report to Appiano a week ago.
Taremi tops the list of players Inter Milan want to move on, but he’s not alone. Asllani, Esposito, and Palacios follow closely behind.

However, they all prefer to stay in Italy, complicating Inter Milan’s plans to generate income from their sales.
Asllani is a prime example: he recently rejected an offer from Real Betis and is hard to sell in Serie A due to the 19 million euro (£15.1m) price tag.
Formerly of Empoli, he isn’t in Chivu’s plans, who is happy with Calhanoglu as the only deep-lying playmaker.
Esposito and Palacios are in a similar situation. They’re young and need regular playing time — something Inter Milan can’t guarantee. Given their age, the club prefers to sell now and cash in immediately.
Palacios, in particular, arrived just a year ago for 6.5 million euros (£5.5m) with a contract running until 2029. Inter Milan have no intention of taking a loss on his sale,” concludes the newspaper.
