An intense 3-3 draw between Inter Milan and Barcelona keeps the Champions League semi-final wide open, with key performances from Inter Milan’s top players

An incredible match, full of twists and played with immense intensity: Inter Milan delivered a magnificent performance at Barcelona’s home, managing to finish with a 3-3 draw.

Inter Milan’s resilience shines in the 3-3 draw with Barcelona: Sommer, Mkhitaryan, and Augusto look ahead to the crucial return leg at San Siro.

A result that leaves everything open for the return leg, as emphasized by Yann Sommer, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Carlos Augusto in post-match interviews:

Yann Sommer:
"I think this match has great value, it’s a good draw. We had prepared for this kind of game, with a lot of pressure: we defended well, but Barcelona always creates opportunities for big goals, so the draw is good for us.

I too was prepared, their pressing is very high and aggressive, but we defended well, stayed compact, and scored three goals. The first half was crucial, but the 3-3 is an important point.

It will be important to play at San Siro with our fans, we need a great atmosphere for the return: we’ll have our chances, just like Barcelona. We’ll see what happens."

Henrikh Mkhitaryan:
"I’m disappointed about the goal they disallowed, we could have had an advantage, but unfortunately I was offside by two or three centimeters.

Now we keep our heads up and get ready to play well in the return leg for a positive result. It was definitely a tough moment for us because there was a lot of fatigue, but we all try to do our best.

We’re all suffering, but we want to go all the way. We can do more offensively and with the ball, but they are as strong as we are. We need to recover well and play until the end."

Carlos Augusto:
"This was a great game: they have so much quality, it’s just a shame because we could have been more careful when it was 2-0, but they’re a great team.

It was a beautiful match, and we hope to replicate it in the return leg to reach the final. In a Champions League semi-final, there’s an extra motivation, but we played very well and worked as a team.

We need to stay united against such strong players. The coach told us to stay calm at half-time, that we were playing a great game. He told us to stay together and enjoy the moment because it’s beautiful to play these matches. In three days, we’ll be back on the pitch, but we are an experienced group, we know how to react, and today we showed that we deserve to be here."
