Giovanni Leoni remains high on Inter Milan’s list, but the club must sell players like Asslani before launching a move for the Parma defender

Parma defender Giovanni Leoni remains a transfer target for Inter Milan, but before pursuing him, the club needs to make sales and generate funds from players no longer in Chivu's plans.

Chivu’s plans involve letting go of Asslani and moving for Leoni

"Asslani is not part of Christian Chivu’s plans after what was essentially a disastrous season, yet the player and his entourage have refused every alternative proposed, including a move to Sassuolo.

These funds are necessary to reignite efforts for Giovanni Leoni (whose arrival could in turn allow Acerbi to depart).

The player, a favorite of Christian Chivu, is being positioned as the future of the national team’s defense.

However, if a major English club such as Liverpool were to enter the race, Parma could demand a fee exceeding 40 million euros (around £33.5 million)," reports Il Giorno via Fcinter1908.

"To go on the offensive, Inter Milan might need a renewed bid from Crystal Palace for Bisseck or a concrete offer for Pavard—while Koni De Winter is viewed as a short-term solution to reinforce the squad.

Lastly, Cagliari is trying to reopen talks for Sebastiano Esposito after it seemed an agreement with Parma had already been reached.

Beppe Marotta is working on multiple fronts: 'father time' could be an ally, but just as easily a foe," the newspaper concludes.
