Mehdi Taremi was forced to travel almost 1,000 kilometers by car, from Tehran to his hometown of Bushehr—a decision made out of caution due to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.

The hostilities, which erupted on June 13, have since paused under a fragile truce but continue to cause uncertainty and danger throughout the region.

Taremi has been in Iran for several weeks and has not been able to join his teammates, who are currently competing in the Club World Cup in the United States. Communication between the player and the rest of the squad is mainly handled by team manager Matteo Tagliacarne.

On the eve of matches against Monterrey and Urawa Red Diamonds, Taremi sent encouraging messages to his teammates via the team chat, as reported by La Repubblica.

Stranded in Bushehr, Taremi trains alone and clings to hope

Despite his isolation, the striker continues to train alone to stay fit in case the opportunity to leave Iran arises.

However, this possibility seems increasingly unlikely—so much so that Inter Milan assume the Club World Cup will conclude without him.
