After being named best player at Lucerne and earning a spot in the Swiss Super League Team of the Season, Aleksandar Stankovic is ready for a new challenge

After a standout season in Switzerland, capped with the award for best player at FC Lucerne and a place in the Swiss Super League’s Team of the Season, Aleksandar Stankovic is ready for the next step in his career.

The talented 2005-born midfielder is still waiting to learn what the future holds, but one key development has already emerged.

Remo Meyer, Lucerne’s sporting director, provided clarity on the Serbian youngster’s situation:
“Following Aleksandar Stankovic’s impressive season, we exercised the purchase option included in his contract at the end of May.

However, Inter Milan subsequently activated their buy-back clause, and now the decision is up to them.”

This means that, as of now, the Serbian gem is once again 100% an Inter Milan player — a sign of the Nerazzurri club’s high regard for him.

Loan move abroad or permanent transfer? Several clubs circling

At this point, several paths are open for Aleksandar Stankovic

According to Fcinter1908, the most likely option is another loan move — ideally abroad — so he can continue to play regularly.

Lucerne would welcome him back with open arms, but their failure to qualify for European competitions weighs heavily against them.

After being named best player at Lucerne and earning a spot in the Swiss Super League Team of the Season, Aleksandar Stankovic is ready for a new challenge.

One possibility could be remaining in Switzerland but moving to Young Boys, a club able to offer the exposure of the Europa League.

Meanwhile, proposals are expected to arrive at Inter Milan HQ in Viale della Liberazione — particularly from Germany, where Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt have shown serious interest. In this case, the offers would likely be for a permanent deal rather than a loan.

And Inter Milan? As of today, it's unlikely Stankovic will remain in Milan despite the presence of Cristian Chivu — a coach who knows him well.

With limited space in the senior squad, and starting in Serie C with the U23 team not seen as ideal for his development, a move away appears more beneficial.

Currently on vacation with friends, Stankovic will soon return to work to fully recover from the injury suffered at the end of the season. After that, he’ll rejoin the group as he awaits clarity on his next destination.
