The Nerazzurri have major funds to invest but deals are not advancing and time is running out to strengthen the squad

Inter Milan has a heavy budget to invest in the transfer market but is struggling to make it count. And time is running out. There are no advanced negotiations in sight yet. Corriere dello Sport via Fcinter1908 describes the situation at Inter Milan as follows:

"With a little less than two weeks until the market closes, 80 million euros (about 70 million pounds) – which could rise to 90 million euros (about 78 million pounds) if Asllani moves to Bologna – are available, and three new signings are still needed.

Inter Milan have major funds to invest but deals are not advancing and time is running out to strengthen the squad

A lively end of August is expected for Inter Milan. Time is beginning to run out, though: targets must be chosen and the assault has to begin.

Clear goals: midfield, defense and attack to be reinforced before the market closes

The new priorities are clear: first, a midfielder – strong, physical, with stamina, not only a ball-winner – then a defender – not a stopgap but a player who can be part of the squad for years – and finally (if the right opportunity arises) an addition to the attack, bringing quality and dribbling from a wider role.

Internal meetings are held daily. Even yesterday, taking advantage of the return to training, Chivu, Marotta and Ausilio – courted by Al Hilal, though his priority remains Inter Milan, backed also by a contract until 2027 – gathered at Appiano Gentile to take stock of the situation.

There are ongoing discussions, but progress is cautious and circumspect, especially with the fresh “burns” from the Lookman and Koné cases still in mind."
